A época mais alegre do ano está chegando! Não sou muito de Carnaval, mas confesso que é impossível passar esta data em branco. Tudo por aqui vira cor e divertimento. Mesmo faltando uma semana para o feridão, os bailes de Carnaval já estão à mil pelo Brasil. Mas, a pergunta que não quer calar é: o que vestir nesses bailes ou festas? Do que se fantasiar? 

The most cheerful season of the year is coming! I'm not into Carnaval, but I confess that is impossible to not celebrate it. Everything turns colour and fun. Even with just 1 week remaining, the Carnaval balls have already started. But, the question is: what to wear in these balls or parties? What costume should we wear?

 ¡La época más alegre del año está llegando! No soy muy fan de Carnaval, pero yo confieso que es impossible pasarse esta fecha en por alto. Todo acá es color y entretenimiento. Faltando una semana para el feriado, los bailes de Carnaval ya han comenzado. Pero, la pregunta es: ¿o qué vestir para irse al baile o fiesta? 

Carnaval é uma época digna de roupas coloridas e estampadas. Ou seja, se não tiver como arranjar fantasia, aposte nas cores e nos desenhos. A fantasia que mais faz sucesso é a icônica baiana - com ou sem influências de Carmen Miranda. O ideal é apostar em tons tropicais como o verde, o amarelo, o vermelho ou laranja. Para os bailes mais formais, que tal um pouco de brilho? Plumas, paetês e colares são bem-vindos. Transparência e seda ou sedinha deixam o look mais sofisticado. Pinturas faciais e maquiagem mega colorida dão um charme exótico e étnico ao outfit.

Carnaval is a season where colourful and patterned clothes rule. It means, if you want to wear a costume, bet on colours and illustrations and patterns. The most iconic costume here in Brazil is the baiana - with or without Carmen Miranda's influences. To get a tropical look, bet on tropical colours green, yellow, red or orange. If you're going to a formal ball, how about a bit of bright? Sequins and feathers are welcome. Transparency and silk give a sophisticated touch to the outfit. Face-painting and colourful make-up are exoctic and ethnic and that's great!

Carnaval es una época digna de ropa coloridas y estampadas. O sea, si no tiene cómo encontrar un disfrace, apueste en colores y diseños. El disfrace más popular es la icónica baiana - con o sin influencías de Carmen Miranda. El ideal es apostar en tonalidades tropicales cómo el verde, el amarillo, el rojo o naranja. Para bailes más formales, ¿qué le parecería un poco de brillo? Plumas y lentejuelas son bienvenidas. Transparencía y seda dejan el look más sofisticado. Pinturas faciales y maquillaje colorida dan un charm exótico y étnico al outfit.

A década de 90 é uma das minhas prediletas - e eu acho que sempre será. Mesmo com referências ditas como cafonas ou démodé, eu gosto muito das roupas e tendências ditadas do período. Tanto que me inspirei em um clássico noventista, Patricinhas de Beverly Hills, para fazer uma de minhas primeiras costuras. Sim, o blazer acima, a saia e o cropped top foram feitos por mim em minha aula de costura - pra quem não sabe, faço aulas de costura todas as terças e quintas. Sempre gostei do icônico suit amarelo da protagonista Cher do filme de 1995. E quando vi Iggy Azalea com um idêntico no clipe Fancy, não tive dúvidas, decidi que iria fazer um para mim. Não foi fácil - fácil é uma coisa que a costura não é - porém tudo foi muito divertido. Quem quiser conhecer minha escola, a Costura e Moda é só clicar aqui. Não sei se o post de hoje é um look dia do dia, mas deixo abaixo algumas fotinhos do meu modelito. Não sou muito fotogênica - aliás sou bem tímida para fotos - mas, tentei meu máximo, rsrs. The 90s is one of my favorite decades - and I guess it will always be. Even with démodé or old-fashioned references I still enjoy the clothes and trends of that period. So much that I've got inspired by a 90s classic film, Clueless, to make one of my first seams. Yes, the blazer above, the skirt and the cropped top were made by me in my sew class - for those who are new in town I do sew classes on Tuesdays and Thurdays. I've always admired the iconic suit worn by Cher in the film released in 1995. And when I saw Iggy Azalea dressed in one I had no doubts, I would make one for me. I don't know if the today's post is a look du jour, but I give you some pictures of my yellow suit below. I'm not photogenic - I'm very shy for photos, indeed - but I tried my best. Los años 90 son una de mis décadas predilectas - y yo creo que siempre será. Mismo con referencias conocidas como démodé o cursi, me gusta mucho las ropas y tendencias del período. Tanto que me inspiré en un clásico de lá década de 90, Clueless, para hacer una de mis primeras costuras. Sí, el blazer arriba, la falda y el cropped top fueron hechos pro mí en mi clase de costura - yo hago clases de costuras cada martes y jueves. Yo siempre tuve gusto de lo icónico suit amarillo de Cher de la película de 1995. Y cuando ví Iggy Azalea usando uno, yo decidí: yo voy hacer un para mí. No fue fácil - costurar no es nada fácil - pero todo fue muy divertido. O livro é dividido em capítulos temáticos e está escrito em uma linguagem simples e didática. Ou seja, é muito gostoso de ler. Além disso, ele reúne uma série de imagens lindas e icônicas. Me encantei com as informações que encontrei nele. Leitura imperdível para quem gosta de moda.

Imagine the main Fashion names gathered in a book. Have you ever? Well, this is the proposition of the book The World's Most Influential Fashion Designers, by Noël Palomo-Lovinski: collect the great names of the fashion world and introduce them to fashionistas in a trip into the fashion world. The book is divided in tematic chapters and is written in a very simple form. It also gathers a serie of beautiful and iconic images. I really loved this book! If you enjoy fashion this is unmissable to you.

O Natal está tão perto que Papai Noel está, praticamente, batendo em nossas portas. A época em que as pessoas mais se arrumam e os salões de beleza - e as lojas, obviamente - ficam lotados. Mesmo com o horário marcado no salão, ainda têm muitas moças com dúvidas em que fazer no cabelo nessa data tão especial. Natal é um evento um pouco formal - mesmo se a festa for na casa de parentes, é sempre bom ir arrumado, porém sem exagero. Se você for festejar na casa de amigos ou em um lugar mais fino, vá com o traje mais social. OK, Iza! Mas e o cabelo? Bem, o Natal em nosso país é predominantemente bem quente pelo fato de estarmos no verão. Ou seja, aposte em um cabelo preso - ou meio preso, se preferir - como coques, tranças, beehives ou preso em um lado só. Mas, se você é como eu e gosta de estar com as madeixas soltas, mesmo no calor, aposte em headbands ou presilhas para enfeitar o cabelo. Separei alguns penteados que talvez inspirem vocês. Não se esqueça! O que vale é sentir-se bonita.

Christmas is so close that Santa is already knocking on our doors. The season of the year that people most want to feel beautiful and the beauty parlors - and the stores, obviously - get crowded. Even with appt at the salon, many ladies still have doubts about what to do with their hair at Christmas, which is a kind of formal date - even if the party is in a relative's house. If you're going to party at a friend's house or in a fancy place, go wearing social clothes. Ok, Iza! But what about the hair? If you live a in a country where's Summer, I suggest that you bet on buns, braids or beehives. But, if you like your hair loose, bet on some headbands, maybe, huh? I selected some hairstyles that will certainly inspire you. Remember: feel yourself beautiful.

* Desculpem-me por não ter postado nas últimas semanas. Os motivos? Eu estava me preparando para minha apresentação de dança, que ocorreu no último domingo, 15, e no mesmo dia, eu tive vestibular.

Julho está aqui novamente! E para que começar bem o mês do rock, nada melhor que um post vintage ao estilo rockeiro. Um dos vários presentes que ganhei de aniversário foi o livro The Beatles: A História por trás de todas as Canções, de Steve Turner - obrigada, tia Márcia! Como vocês sabem, eu sou completamente apaixonada pelo quarteto de Liverpool. E ler um livro que conta a história por trás de todas as principais canções da banda foi uma experiência bastante emocionante. Confesso que não li o livro na ordem correta - a curiosidade me fez avançar algumas páginas antes hehehe. Mas, garanto: é livro muito bom e que te faz voltar ao tempo em que as músicas foram escritas. Se você é fã de Beatles, com certeza vai amar o livro. E se não é...bem, vale a pena conhecer um pouco mais da imensa obra dos caras. O livro é escrito em ordem cronológica e cada capítulo indica um álbum da banda. Dica: quando ler o livro, escute, ao mesmo tempo, a música que você estiver lendo sobre. Tietei bastante o livro, confere as pics abaixo.

July is here again! And to start this rock n' roll month, nothing better than a rocker vintage post. One of th many gifts I won on my birthday was the book The Beatles: The Stories behind the Songs, by Steve Turner - thank you, aunt Márcia! As you know, I'm completely in love with the 4 cute boys from Liverpool. And reading a book which tells the stories behind all the main songs of the band, was an incredible experience. I confess that I didn't read the book in the correct order - the curiosity made me advance some pages before hahaha. But I ensure: it is a very good book and makes you go back in the time the songs were written. If you are a beatlemaniac, you will certainly love the book. And if you aren't...well, it is worth to know a bit more the huge work of the guys. The book is written in chronological order and each chapter indicates a band album. Tip: when go reading the book, listen at the same time the music that you're reading about. See the pictures below.

Um livro que te prende do início ao fim. Assim que eu descrevo A Menina Que Roubava Livros de Markus Zusak. O livro conta a história de Liesel Meminger, uma garotinha alemã que vive, com seus pais adotivos em plena Alemanha Nazista. Liesel é aparentemente normal, mas driblou a morte três vezes, o que faz com que esta conte sua história. Sim, a narradora do livro é a morte. Mas não se assustem, pois a história não é pesada e muito menos, assustadora. Pelo contrário, A Menina Que Roubava Livros é um livro emocionante e inteligente. Li ele em uma semana e o recomendo bastante.

A book that hooks you from the start to end. This is how I describe The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. The book tells the story of Liesel Meminger, a German little girl who lives with her adoptive parents in the Nazi Germany. Liesel is apparently normal, but she dribbled death three times, what makes it, the death tells Liesel's story. Yes, the book's narrator is the death. But don't be scared, because the story isn't though and scary. Rather, The Book Thief is an intelligent and exciting book. I read it in a week and recommend it very much.

   2. O Amor nos Tempos do Cólera/ Love in the time of Cholera

Um dos meus livros prediletos. O Amor nos Tempos dos Cólera, de Gabriel Garcia Márquez, é um romance cativante e que te faz sentir as mesmas emoções que os personagens do livro sentem. A história se passa no século XIX na América do Sul. Florentino Ariza é apaixonado por Fermina Daza, porém os dois passam 50 anos sem nenhum contato. O livro tem uma escrita tão descritiva, que parece que você também faz parte da história. Realmente um clássico da literatura latina.

One of my favourite books. Love in the Time of Cholera, by Gabriel Garcia Márquez, is a captivating novel that makes you feel the same emotions of the characters in the book. The story takes place in South America in the nineteenth century. Florentino Ariza is completely in love with Fermina Daza, perhaps the two both pass 50 years without any contact. The book has a so descreptive written, that it seems you're are in the story. It's a classic of Latin Literature.
