Inocentemente icônica e inspiradora. Assim que gosto de caracterizar a beleza na Era Eduardiana ou Belle Époque - de 1901 a 1914. Durante este período o mundo passou por muitas mudanças, principalmente nos campos das artes, das tecnologias e das ciências. Portanto, as vestimentas e os conceitos de beleza foram mudando. A nobreza e a alta sociedade em geral eram quem ditavam a moda da época. O corpo ideal da Belle Époque era maduro e feminino. Os espartilhos ajudavam a formar uma silhueta em "S" no corpo feminino - busto projetado para frente, quadril para trás e cintura fina. A maquiagem era suave, com os olhos levemente destacados, pele pálida com pó de arroz e sobrancelhas definidas. Para cuidar da pele, as mulheres cuidavam muito da alimentação e passavam óleos no rosto. O perfume era muito popular na época. Os cabelos era presos com coques altos - os chamados pompadour - e enfeitados com chapéus, tiaras e flores. Fiz um croqui inspirado na época e na música Clair de Lune do francês Debussy. Também, separei algumas inspirações eduardianas. Espero que gostem.

Innocently iconic and inspiring. That's how I describe the beauty in the Edwardian Era or Belle Époque - from 1901 to 1914. During this period, the world experienced enormous changes, especially in arts, technologics and science fields. Therefore, the clothing and beauty standards were also changing. The aristocracy and high society in general were the ones who used to rule the fashion of that time. The Belle Époque's ideal body was mature and feminine. The corsets helped to form a "S" silhouette - modified the women breast by making it look bigger and the waist thinner. The make-up was soft, with the eye softly highlightned, pale skin helped by the rice powder and dark eyebrows. To take care of the skin, women were always on a diet rich in vegetables. Perfume was very popular too. The hair were tied with high buns - the pompadour - and accessories like hats, tiaras and flowers were also worn. I made a fashion sketch inspired by the time and the song Clair de Lune by Debussy. I selected some Edwardian inspirations as well. I hope you enjoy them.

O Natal está tão perto que Papai Noel está, praticamente, batendo em nossas portas. A época em que as pessoas mais se arrumam e os salões de beleza - e as lojas, obviamente - ficam lotados. Mesmo com o horário marcado no salão, ainda têm muitas moças com dúvidas em que fazer no cabelo nessa data tão especial. Natal é um evento um pouco formal - mesmo se a festa for na casa de parentes, é sempre bom ir arrumado, porém sem exagero. Se você for festejar na casa de amigos ou em um lugar mais fino, vá com o traje mais social. OK, Iza! Mas e o cabelo? Bem, o Natal em nosso país é predominantemente bem quente pelo fato de estarmos no verão. Ou seja, aposte em um cabelo preso - ou meio preso, se preferir - como coques, tranças, beehives ou preso em um lado só. Mas, se você é como eu e gosta de estar com as madeixas soltas, mesmo no calor, aposte em headbands ou presilhas para enfeitar o cabelo. Separei alguns penteados que talvez inspirem vocês. Não se esqueça! O que vale é sentir-se bonita.

Christmas is so close that Santa is already knocking on our doors. The season of the year that people most want to feel beautiful and the beauty parlors - and the stores, obviously - get crowded. Even with appt at the salon, many ladies still have doubts about what to do with their hair at Christmas, which is a kind of formal date - even if the party is in a relative's house. If you're going to party at a friend's house or in a fancy place, go wearing social clothes. Ok, Iza! But what about the hair? If you live a in a country where's Summer, I suggest that you bet on buns, braids or beehives. But, if you like your hair loose, bet on some headbands, maybe, huh? I selected some hairstyles that will certainly inspire you. Remember: feel yourself beautiful.

Enquanto fuxicava o site da badalada Vogue britânica, me deparei com uma matéria superdivertida escrita por Jessica Hogan, editora de beleza da revista. No artigo, Jess confessa que não sabe lidar muito com o cabelo e que, para resolver isto, aposta nas crown jewels - ou head jewellery, que na tradução significa joias para cabeça. Engana-se quem acha que elas são apenas feitas de pedras caras e preciosas; você pode encontrá-las em qualquer boutique,  lojas de departamento ou casas especializadas em acessórios. As head jewels são perfeitas para aquelas festas de verão à noite. E ainda, ajudam a disfarçar o cabelo num bad day hair. Eu confesso que caí de amores por essa tendência e não vejo a hora de ir às compras, hahaha. Então, vai ficar de fora dessa trend? Já adquiriu sua própria coroa, para reinar nas ruas da cidade? Se ainda não, separei algumas inspirações que irão te fazer suspirar e ir correndo comprar uma agorinha.

While taking a look at Vogue UK's site I came across a very entertaining article written by Jessica Hogan, Beauty and Health Associate Editor of Vogue. In this article, Jess confesses that she doesn't know how to take care of her hair and to solve this, she bet on crown jewels - or head jewellery, if you prefer this way. You're wrong if you think they are only made by gemstones; you can get them on any boutique, department or beauty stores. The head jewels are perfect for those Summer night parties. And it also helps you disguising a bad day hair. I confess that I'm in love with this trend and I can't wait to go shopping mine. So, are you gonna miss it? Have you purchased your own crown? Uma das tendências mais antigas - e modernas - que conheço são as franjas.Todo mundo, pelo menos uma vez, quis fazer ou fez uma franjinha, não é verdade? Elas mudam completamente o rosto de uma pessoa, deixando-o mais fino e jovem. Além de serem pra lá de estilosas. As franjas entram e saem da moda toda hora, mas é impossível passar na rua e ver alguém sem, né? Porém, o auge das franjas foi a década de 60, quando vários artistas e celebridades aderiram ao corte. Ícones franjudos não faltam, né? Diretamente dos anos 60, temos Françoise Hardy, Anna Karina, The Beatles e Rita Lee. Os mais contemporâneos são Mallu Magalhães, Rachel Bilson, Jake Bugg e Zooey Deschanel. Eu fiz franja ano passado e confesso que adorei, mas deixei crescer. Quem sabe no verão eu corte de novo? E você gosta de franjas? Duvido que não goste com as inspirações abaixo.

Amores, desculpem-me por não postar aqui no blog todos esses dias. Os motivos? Eu estou doente novamente - sim, nesse inverno, a gripe me pegou de jeito - e eu tive e tenho que estudar para algumas provas (especialmente para a de matemática). Para não deixar o blog desatualizado, eu separei três DIYs pra lá de vintage para inspirar-los. Espero que gostem. Beijos!

Adivinha qual corte de cabelo predominou em praticamente toda a década de 60? Acertou quem disse franjas. Isso mesmo, essas belezinhas reinam entre nós desde os anos 20, mas foi na década de 60 que viraram ícones de estilo. Naquela época quase todas as moças - desde young feministas à mocinhas conservadoras - usavam franjinha. Uma das mais famosas garota franjinha da época é a atriz e cantora inglesa Jane Birkin. Ela ficou famosa por ser esposa do compositor francês Serge Gainsbourg. Assim, logo  seu estilo foi copiado por muitas fashionistas alternativas e revistas de moda começaram a prestar atenção no estilo original da moça. Eu mesma já aderi à famosa franjinha de Birkin, lembram? Muito inspirador.

Guess what was the most famous haircut in the 60s? You're right if you said bangs. Yes, they prevail among us since the 20's, but it was in the 60s they became fashion icons. In that time almost all the girls - since the young feminists to the conservative maidens - wore bangs. One of the most famous girl bangs of that time is the British actress and singer Jane Birkin. She got famous by being wife of French songwriter Serge Gainsbourg. Then, soon her style was copied by many fashionistas and fashion magazines started loving Birkin's original style. I also wore bangs, don't you remember? It's very inspiring.

Foi na década de 40, durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial, que a figura das pin-ups tornou-se popular: cartazes dessas mulheres vestindo trajes de banho ou roupas íntimas, eram distribuídos em grande quantidade aos soldados. E uma das garotas mais populares da época era Betty Grable. Além de modelo, Grable era atriz, dançarina e cantora. Ela fez algumas comédias musicais em Hollywood, como Down Argentine Way (1940), Mother Wore Tights (1947) e Como Agarrar um Milionário (1953). Mas, o que a deixou famosa foi sua fotografia em traje de banho, olhando para trás sobre o ombro direito. Betty é, sem dúvida, um ícone vintage. Seu penteado, o victory rolls, é copiado até hoje por pin-ups modernas e ela é vista como uma das principais inspirações do estilo vintage.

It was in the 40s, during the World War II, that the figure of the pin-ups became popular: posters of these women wearing bathing suits or underclothes were distributed in large quantities to the soldiers. And one of the most popular girls was Betty Grable. Besides being a model, Grable was actress, dancer and singer. She appeared in some musicals in Hollywood, like Down Argentine Way (1940), Mother Wore Tights (1947) and How To Marry A Millionaire (1953). But it was her iconic bathing suit poster that made her a star. Betty is a vintage icon, undoubtedly. Her hairdo, the victory rolls, is copied by many girls around the world even nowadays. Such an inspiration, don't you think?

Uma das rainhas das discotecas da década de 80, Cyndi Lauper serviu de inspiração para muitas garotas e, de certa maneira, ainda serve. Como? Bem, de onde você acha que Hayley Williams, vocalista do Paramore, tirou inspiração para ter os fios laranjas e vermelhos? Sim, a inspiração vem dos anos 80, a década esquisita  original. Naquela época, quanto mais estranha fosse a aparência da pessoa, mais ela seria descolada e legal. Ta aí alguns exemplos, como skinheads, punks, metaleiros, hip hop e o pop. Os cabelos coloridos significavam a liberdade do adolescente, sua ousadia e teimosia. E Cyndi representava isto: o jovem rebelde e com aparência diferenciada que chocava as senhoras conservadoras. Deve ser por isso que adoro a moda da década de 80: originalidade até demais.

One of the disco queens of the 80s, Cyndi Lauper served as inspiration to many girls, and , somehow, still serves. How? Well, where do you think Hayley Williams, lead singer of Paramore, drew inspiration to have orange and red strands? Yeah, the inspiration is from the 80s, the weird original decade. In that time, the more strange was the appearence of the person, the more it would be funky and cool. And so we have some examples, like skinheads, punks, metalheads, the hip hop and the pop. The coloured meant the teen's freedom, its boldness and stubbornness. And Cyndi did represent it: the young rebel with a weird appearence that shocked the conservative ladies. That's why I like the 80s: everything was so unique.

Que Diana Ross é uma diva, nós já sabíamos, não? Mas, seria ela um ícone de moda? Certamente. Diana, de certa forma, revolucionou a cabeleira de muita mulher ao usar seus cabelos naturais, ou seja, crespos. Na década de 70, os cabelos crespos e volumosos em geral, eram uma das tendências mais seguidas. Mulheres que queriam cachos, eram submetidas à famosa permanente; as que já tinham cachos, simplesmente os soltavam. E foi isso que Diana fez - para mulheres negras era difícil assumir os cabelos naturais, já que a moda impunha que o correto era ter os cabelos lisos. Esse foi o fim da era do cabelo certinho.  A sensualidade estava toda no cabelão agora.

That Diana Ross is a diva, we've already known about it, no? But would she be a fashion icon? Certainly. Diana, somehow, revolutionized the hair of many women wearing her hair naturally or curly.  In the 70s, the curly or voluminous  hair in general, were trendy. Women who wanted curls, were submitted to the famous permanent straightening; those who already had curls, simply wore their hair naturally. And that's what Diana did - to black women it was difficult to take their hair natural, since the fashion required the correct was to have straight hair. The sensuality was in the voluminous hair now.

Mundialmente conhecida como a esposa (ou seria viúva ou ex?) de Elvis, Priscilla Presley teve seu momento de it girl, enquanto casada com o Rei do Rock. Seu famoso penteado beehive exagerado e seu olho de gatinho, além de seu jeito de mocinha inocente, inspiravam muitas moderninhas na década de 60. Aliás, quem você acha que é a inspiração do visual da cantora Lana Del Rey? Lembra-se do clipe National Anthem? Lana fez uma mistura do visual de Priscilla com o da Primeira Dama, Jacqueline Kennedy. Priscilla é uma fofa e um baita ícone, não?

Her famous exaggerated beehive hairdo and her cat eye make-up, besides her lady way, inspired many modern girl from the 60s. Besides, who do you think is the visual inspiration of singer Lana Del Rey? Remember the clip National Anthem? Lana matched the Priscilla's style with the Jacqueline Kennedy's. Priscilla is so cute and a great icon, don't you agree?

Um dos maiores símbolos sexuais de todos os tempos, Marilyn Monroe é e sempre será lembrada como ícone pop. Seu bocão vermelho, busto grande e corpo violão chamavam a atenção de muitos homens. Mas, foi o cabelo louro platinado que tornou-se sua marca registrada. No começo, Marilyn era apenas mais uma loura de Hollywood, mas com o passar do tempo, tornou-se superstar e ícone de moda. Seus penteados cacheados viraram febre entre as moças da época. De repente, todas estavam louras e usando batom vermelho. Aliás, é impossível falar de década de 50 sem mencionar o nome de Marilyn, não é mesmo? Ela foi, sem dúvida, o maior símbolo da década. Uma loura linda e talentosa, que de burra não tinha nada.

A beautiful and talented blonde, who had nothing dumb.

Whitney Houston tinha o cabelo que toda garota queria na década de 80: volumoso, médio e crespo. Naquela época, cachos haviam tomado conta de tudo. Adolescentes aderiam enlouquecidamente à escova permanente - ou você achava que elas tinham baby liss? - para conseguir ficar com cachos iguais aos de Whitney ou outras cantoras, como Madonna e Kim Carnes. Para suavizar o visual, Whitney (e outras celebridades também) apostavam nos laços, tiaras e outros acessórios para cabelo, que em seguida virava modinha entre as descoladas. Um detalhe importante: quanto mais colorido, melhor. Afinal, a década de 80 foi a década das cores, lembra?

Teenagers madly joined to permanent straightening - or did you think they had baby liss? - to get the perfect curls of Whitney and other singers, like Madonna and Kim Carnes. To soften the visual, Whitney (and other celebrities too) bet on ties, headbands and other hair accessories, which then turned fad among the funky ones. An important detail: the more colourful, the better. After all, the 80s was the color's decade, remember?

Quando revolucionou o guarda-roupa feminino, Coco Chanel também transformou a moda dos cabelos da década de 20. Ao queimar seu cabelo acidentalmente com vela, Chanel decide cortá-lo bem curto, uma novidade na época. O choque da sociedade foi grande, mas com tempo e com o sucesso que as roupas de Gabrielle foram fazendo, muitas mulheres começaram a aderir à novidade. O corte valoriza o rosto e o pescoço da mulher, tornando-a mais sensual, além dele nunca sair de moda e ser mega prático, né? 

When revolutionzed the feminine wardrobe, Coco Chanel also transformed the hair fashion of the 20s. By burning her hair accidentally with candle, Chanel decides to cut it very short, an innovation at the time. The shock of the society was great, but with the time and success that her clothes were doing, many women began to join the new. The haircut appreciates the woman's face and neck, making it more sensual, beyond never go out of fashion and be very handy, right?

Seria impossível não incluir Audrey Hepburn numa lista como esta, não? Ela é simplesmente um dos maiores ícones de moda de todos os tempos. Para atuar em seus filmes, Audrey tinha o costume de mudar de visual: seja cortando o cabelo, mudando o penteado ou fazendo luzes (como em Bonequinha de Luxo, de 1960). O fato é que suas mudanças sempre inspiraram. Tanto o coque beehive com franjinha de Breakfast At Tiffany's quanto o corte curto assimétrico de Wait Until Dark inspiram-nos, sim, nós, as fashionistas ou antenadas, não é verdade? Que atire a primeira pedra quem nunca sonhou em ter a praticidade do cabelo de Holly Golightly, rsrs. Ai, ai, Audrey sempre divando...

It would be impossible not to include Audrey Hepburn on a list like that, no? She is simply one of the greatest fashion icons of all times. To act in her films, Audrey had the habit of changing the look: or cutting the hair, changing the hairdo or highlight hair (like in Breakfast At Tiffany's). The fact is that her changes always inspire. Both the beehive bun with bangs in Breakfast At Tiffany's and asymmetrical short cut of Wait Until Dark do inspire us, yes, we the fashionistas, right? Cast the first stone who never dreamt about having the hair as pratical as the Holly Golightly's'. Oh, Audrey always influencing...

Farrah Fawcett marcou uma geração. Ela é considerada o maior símbolo sexual da década de 70 e um dos maiores de todos os tempos. Seu pôster, vestindo um maiô vermelho foi um recorde de vendas. Farrah ficou conhecida por interpretar uma das angels no seriado setentista, As Panteras; por se tratar de um seriado muito popular entre adolescentes, logo, muitas garotas começaram a copiar o estilo de Farrah. Seu corte de cabelo foi o mais popular da década de 70. Por que ela merece o primeiro lugar? Bem, ninguém foi tão influente quanto ela, a ponto de inspirar garotas dos anos 70, 80 e até 90. 

Farrah Fawcett marked a generation. She is considered the biggest sex symbol of the 70s and one of the greatest of all times. Her poster, dressing a red bathing suit was record sales. Farrah became known by being one of the angels of the show Charlie's Angels. Soon her style and hair started to be copied by many girls around the world. She became an icon. Her haircut is the most popular of the 70s. A diva, no?

Totalmente ambientado no inicio do rock n' roll, o famoso rockabilly, Cry-baby rende muitas risadas. Aquelas baladinhas típicas da década de 50 não faltam no filme, afinal, como eu falei é um musical. A trama se passa em 1954 na cidade de Baltimore, onde há uma rivalidade entre os grupos Drapes e Squares. No grupo dos Drapes fazem parte aqueles adolescentes roqueiros, típicos do rockabilly e que vestem jaqueta de couro e calça jeans. Já os Squares são aqueles jovens conservadores, que se vestem de uma forma mais certinha e não curtem rock n' roll. Meninas, adivinhem quem está no elenco? Johnny Depp bem novinho e sexy com aquele ar de bad boy cinquentista. Super recomendo esse filme ♥

Set in the early rock n' roll, the famous rockabilly, Cry-baby is very funny. Those typical 50s' songs appear in the filme, after all, as I've said it's a musical film. The plot is set in 1954 Baltimore, where there's a rivalry between groups Drapes and Squares. The Drapes are those young rockers, typically rockabilly and they wear leather jackets and denim trousers. The Squares are those young conservatives who dress more formally and don't listen to rock n' roll. Guess who is in the cast? Johnny Depp very young and sexy like a 50's bad boy. I really recommend it ♥

Gibson Girl era o nome dado à personagem que aparecia nas ilustrações do americano Charles Dana Gibson no início do século XX. Geralmente eram mulheres altas, magras e elegantes. Usavam espartilhos apertadíssimos e os cabelos presos num coque alto, além de terem um busto amplo. Representavam uma mulher moderna e ativa. Também representavam o ideal de beleza durante a Belle Époque. As Gibson Girls mais famosas eram  Evelyn Nesbit, Camille Clifford e Irene Langhorne, que casou-se com Charles Gibson. 

Gibson Girl was the name of the character that used to appear in the illustrations of Charles Dana Gibson in the early twentieth century. They usually were tall, thin and elegant women. Used to wear a swan-bill corset and also used to wear their hair in a chignon. Represented a modern and active woman. Also represented the beauty standard of the Belle Époque. The most famous Gibson Girls were Evelyn Nesbit, Camille Clifford and Irene Langhorne, who got married to Charles Gibson.
